First-Timer Sunday, January 29 What are TorahTrek hikes? Click here for SoCal Hike FAQ Where: Malibu Creek State Park. Meet in the second, main parking lot next to the trail head. See below for directions. Degree of Difficulty: the easy side of moderate. As much as 6 miles of mostly flat walking. No steep inclines, although there will be some elevation gain. Bring: Daypack, lunch, journal or writing materials, good walking shoes (boots not necessary), hat, sunscreen, sunscreen lip balm, layers for warmth (if it's a cold day). Optional: siddur, musical instrument, sketching materials, camera. Cost: State Park entrance fee. From Rabbi Mike Comins: "This TT hike is free. However, I have a request. I am writing a book on Jewish spiritual practice in wilderness. I would greatly appreciate it if participants would spend about 20 minutes before the end of the hike filling out an evaluation on the hike activities. Your input will help fine tune the exercises for the book, and you might even be quoted!" Registration: Participants must pre-register by Jan. 25, as hike is limited to twelve. First come, first serve. Directions: From Pacific Coast Highway, turn inland on Malibu Canyon Road and proceed 6.5 miles to the park entrance. If you reach Mulhulland Hwy., you've gone 0.25 mile too far. From the Ventura Fwy. 101, exit on Las Virgenes Road and proceed south four miles to the park entrance, 0.25 mile beyond Mulhulland Hwy. |
